Our Site Rules

Background

This is a public community website for the purposes of presenting the music of the MoBetta Jam Experience to the online world. It is owned and operated by MightyD aka Dave Hayes for the MoBetta Jam Experience (the "we" in this document). This document represents the rules and regulations we expect all users (the "you" in this document) to understand and follow while they are here.

Administrative Information

Please send mail to: mobetta-admin@mobettajam.com for all administrative issues.

Operating principles of this site

Here are the overriding operational principles of this site. These aren't rules that you need to follow, these are the basic ideas by which we administrate the site. You should be familiar with these, as they will impact everything you do here.

  • We (The MoBetta Jam Experience) are the last and final word on all administrative matters regarding this site. It's our house, after all.

  • All standards of judgment used in resolving administrative issues involving this site are ours and ours alone. Said another way, there are no objective standards when it comes to our adjudication of administrative issues.

This means we get to decide, based on our whim, what is actionable abuse here. Thus, if you are seeking definitions of concepts like "spamming", "hateful", "abusive", or anything else, you won't find any complete and comprehensive definition here. We'll decide what behavior is and is not "spamming", "hateful", etc. If in doubt, ask. If you disagree with our standards, leave.

  • We reserve the exclusive right to delete or modify anything on this site.

Again, it's our house. You can hang out here, but if you soil the carpet or throw trash everywhere we will likely kick you out.

Rules of this site

  1. We expect you to honor and respect others in your comments. Each mind has it's own way. Recognize this and consider it well.

  2. Personal attacks (aka Argumentia Ad Hominem), hateful speech, useless flamewars, and other negative artifacts of mass public communication are not really wanted here.

  3. We will actively discourage negativity with no other purpose than the negativity itself. This does not mean negative comments are not allowed, it just means that negative commentary should still be constructive in some small way.

For example, saying "your opinion is stupid" and nothing else is just negative. Better would be to say "your opinion is stupid because..." followed by some explanation as to why it is stupid.

  4. Spamming will not be tolerated here.

  5. Blatant commercial advertising, without compensating us, will not be tolerated here. If you want to advertise here, send a mail to the administration and we can work something out.

Your Privacy Policy

Keep in mind that this is the internet. Please do not post information here that you consider to be personal or private. Any information posted in our public sections by you is automatically in the public domain and will likely be available by a well crafted google search. We are not responsible for your inability to keep your private and personal information private.

Other than the private forums here (which people cannot see without access), if you need private communications, use another medium like electronic mail.

Our Privacy Policy

Privacy is very important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

The Information We Collect

The only personal information collected upon signing up for an account is a working email address and an IP address.

The Way We Use Information

We use your email address for the following reasons:

  • To send a confirmation email when you sign up for an account

  • To allow you to reset your password if you lose or forget your old one.

  • To send you an automated notice if a story you submit is accepted or declined.

  • To inform you of various events related to The MoBetta Jam Experience from time to time.

  • To have an administrator contact you if circumstances arise where this is required

No other use is now or ever will be made of this address. Unless you are trying to hack our site or we are required to do so by a law enforcement agency, your IP address will never be used.

We will not send you any other email unless you contact us first and specifically request information, technical help, or editorial assistance. We do not sell this address, or link it to any other personal information.

You may also, after signing up, change your real email address to an invalid one. If you do this, you are giving up any ability to automatically reset your password or to contact an administrator about your account. If you feel it is important though, you are welcome to do so.

How You Can Access Or Correct Your Information

You can access all your personally identifiable information (except your IP address) that we collect online and maintain by logging in, and clicking the "User Preferences" link in the box on the right-hand side of every page. If you are logged in right now, then clicking this link will take you to your edit page. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections, by requiring you to enter your current password before changing any of your user information.
